I like a good prank as much as the next guy…

So I just had a new upright freezer delivered to my house and I was trying to think of all the fun stuff I could do with this huge box. The idea that came to me as I was watching my son play in the box was that I should scare the neighbors next door.

I am so glad the husband didn’t answer because he is the type that would have punched me for scaring him. At least they got some chocolate cookies out of the deal.

Brian and I are both jokesters and love to have a great time. If you like to have a great time then leave us a comment or at least tell us a funny story.

If you would like us to post a funny video on our website or a video of you eating out then just email us at SaltLakeRestaurant at Gmail.com and we will get it up on the website for you. (must be appropriate for all ages.)

Braza Grill Winners

Here are some pictures of me as I chose the 3 winners of the Braza Grill contest we started last week.

Winner #1 Robyn with Comcast email address.

Winner #2 Was Lela with the Gmail account.

Winner #3 we don’t have a name on, but they work at First Utah Bank. I hope they don’t get in trouble for looking at our site during working hours.

OK those were the winners of the Braza contest. Check out the other blog posts we’ve done since you were here last. Also, leave me a comment. How do I look?

Z Pizzeria

I love when I go to a new Pizza place with no expectations. I was not expecting Zpizzeria to be so good. The crust had such a great taste and the sauces and ingredients were amazing.

We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Z Meatza Pizza and they were both good choices. The BBQ pizza was sooo good. The pizza has a bulls eye or extra BBQ sauce swirled on top.

The Meatza was  great, too. It had Salami and Pepperonni and ground beef. The marinera sauce was really amazing and so were the Garlic Bread sticks.

The DODO Restaurant

Last weekend I took my wife out to the Dodo Restaurant. We had a great time. The atmosphere was great and it was a real happening scene. I loved all the dark wood and dim lights. This is a great place for a romantic date or a friends night out.

The food was really, really good.  I got the Cajun Chicken Pasta and my wife got the spinach and artichoke ravioli. He dish was so good. Dang it, now I am hungry for some good food.

There desserts there are really good, too. We actually ended up getting the chocolate sin cake. Although I didn’t feel like a sinner, it was delicious and worth every bite.  All their desserts and food are totally worth any drive or any wait. You’ll love it.

Are you for Real? Because we are…

So I recently received an email from one of our members telling me that he didn’t think our coupons were real and he didn’t think our contests were real. Ouch!!!

My first comment would be, WOW!, this guy hasn’t ever tried to use one our our coupons. Our coupons are as real as the restaurants are. So if there is a made up coupon it is attached to a made up restaurant.

Second, of course our contests are real. Man, I would love to take all the gift cards we have given out and use them on myself and my family. Since we started we have given away over $1,500 in Gift Cards and it makes me so happy to be able to hand these off to the lucky winners. Seeing the looks on your faces as you are given free food or a night out on the town makes me super happy.

Here is a picture with our most recent winner, Chad. Chad won the Mountain Mike’s Super Bowl Pizza party.

So use our coupons and enter our contests and ENJOY! We are trying to bring you the best restaurant coupons, the best stories and the best gift card giveaways in all of Salt Lake.

Dolcetti Gelato and much, much more.

Last Saturday my family and I went to Dolcetti Gelato to get a nice treat and also to hand out FREE gift certificates to Madelines Steakhouse and Pistol Pete’s. While I was sitting there enjoying a cute little movie in Italian, I was asked if I had ever tried their sandwiches? I had to admit that I had not tried them.

I ordered the Toscana sandwich. It had turkey, cheese, pesto sauce and Artichoke hearts. The sandwich has very light, but was very filling and delicious. I especially loved the Pesto Sauce. Definitely check them out for a great, light sandwich.

That same night I also decided to try something other than the Gelato. I got a Nutella and banana crepe with whip cream on top. OHH it was so good. It is pretty hard to mess something up when it has Nutella on it. If you love nuts and chocolate then you probably love Nutella like I do. The mix of Banana and Nutella in a fresh mad crepe was awesome. If you didn’t know they did crepes and sandwiches, now you do.

Ski Trip To Brighton and Porcupine Pub & Grille

This past weekend we had the chance to go up to Brighton Ski resort for a little rest, relaxation, and renewal.  I truly feel like I can breathe deeper after taking in some of that cold mountain air.  What a break!  It was nice and I feel like a trillion bucks.

On Monday night we came down the canyon for a bite to eat at Porcupine Pub and Grille and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed.  You should have seen the nachos they brought to our table.  They were YOUGE! and savory delicious.

And this was the Half Order… they were killer good.

Porcupine is now on www.saltlakerestaurant.com, go check them out.  You won’t be displeased.  Maybe we’ll see you there.

Silver Fork Lodge

While staying up at the Brighton Chalet, I decided to take my wife out for a nice dinner out. I had heard really good things about the Silver Fork lodge, so we went there. I was surprised at how rustic and authentic it was inside. I had always thought that it was a new built place within the last 20 years or so. I found out from our server that it was actually a trading post or store back in the 1800′s.

The restaurant has a large fireplace and a comfortable dining area. The thing I looked the most was the food. I got the Elmo Meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The food was very good and the area was incredible. I walked out on the back deck and it looked over the canyon. It was so beautiful and romantic. I love being able to look up at the stars and contemplate how small I am.

If you have not eaten at the Silver Fork Lodge then I recommend you go check it out. It is great for a date, great for an anniversary or just to get out of the Salt Lake smog and get some fresh air. The ambiance is great and the surroundings are beautiful.

MacCools or not MacCools Restaurant

This weekend my family and I decided to go checkout a new restaurant out at the District in South Jordan. MacCool’s is an Irish themed Pub House and Restaurant. I had heard mixed reviews about it, but like to make up my own mind.

When we first arrived I thought, WOW, this place is different and looks awesome. While we waited to be seated I played with a table shuffle board. We were seated pretty quickly.

The services was good and one of the managers came over to see how we were doing and introduced herself. Let me start by saying that some of the food was good and some of it was not.

The food that we got that was good was the Sweet Potato fries and the appetizer wings. The wings were grilled and smothered with a sweet sauce. I really enjoyed the wings and their grilled flavor.

So my steak was no good and my salad was drenched in dressing. I think I will try it again since it was half good and half bad, but I will not be purchasing the steak or salads again. I would love to hear your feedback on MacCool’s Restaurant.

Eating at Panda Express

At first I wondered if my wife was pregnant again. Its not like her to want to go eat at the mall. To help her satiate her craving for a cheese on a stick and a corn dog we rushed off to South Towne Mall.

I myself had been craving chinese food all week, so I went to the Panda Express. I have been trying to eat a lot healthier in 2010 so when I saw their wall of fresh cut veggies, I thought I had found a winner.

I ordered the brocolli beef, the orange chicken and the lo mein noodles. Boy was I sorely mistaken with ths selection. Everything tasted like it was soaked in greasy. It was super oily tasting, but with the texture or consistency or motor oil.

The food was not good and I know had to eat crappy food and live with the regret of eating this bad food. When did their food get bad? Maybe my taste buds have changed or maybe their food has always been lousy. (shrugged shoulders)

Well I won’t be eating there anymore. Salt Lake please tell me where I can find some good chinese food? I would like to go eat there and also list them on www.saltlakerestaurant.com.  Hit me up with your comments on Panda Express and also on where I can go get some awesome chinese food.
